SRAM saw the opportunity to make a better press fit system where all the best from BB30 and PressFit bottom brackets would be combined into one captivating package. Pressfit 30 will feature an integrated seal, pre-assembled into the cups, to further prolong bearing life. The key difference with Pressfit 30 is how the bearings are fitted into the frame. Bearings are housed in nylon cups which will be pressed into the frames bottom bracket shell. This bottom bracket is designed for 30mm spindle cranksets. Frames will need a 46mm inner-diameter bottom bracket shell to accommodate this system. The CeramicSpeed BB86 SRAM GXP Road Bottom Brackets are compatible with press-fit specific bike frames only. The shell diameter is 41mm ID, and when the bearings and cups are pressed in, they fit the 24/22mm SRAM and Quarq spindle. There are two versions of the CeramicSpeed Bearings that come installed in the cups. The first choice is our low drag, long life Standard Bearing with hardened-steel races and our super-round CeramicSpeed balls. The second choice is our Coated Bearing, which uses those same balls installed on coated, hardened-steel races for longer life and less bearing drag. - This BB86 bottom bracket works with cranks that have 24/22mms, including Quarq and SRAM. - Frictional drag of CeramicSpeed Standard Bearings is typically 0.3-0.4 watts per set. That represents an average 75% drag drop versus standard bottom brackets. The hardened-steel races feature ceramic balls that are 100% smoother and 15% harder than the ceramic competition. The bearings last at least three times longer than other bearings. - Coated Bearings reduce drag further and increase service life. The coated races see a 50% drag reduction and an improvement in bearing life of 60%. The PF30 standard is widely used. To make it compatible with Shimano and other 24mm diameter cranks, as well as improve the system, select this bottom bracket. The package comes with two cups and CeramicSpeed Bearings installed. The cups have extended inner sleeves and join with a center section, reducing the likelihood of creaking and increasing the reliability of the system while also eliminating spindle rub on internal cables. The cups mate with 24/22mm crank spindles. There are two bearing options. Both Standard and Coated Bearings feature super smooth CeramicSpeed Balls and hardened-steel races. The CeramicSpeed Coated Bearings have an additional feature: a 3-micron thick metallic layer over the races. This addition makes the races smoother and harder, lowering drag and increasing life. The CeramicSpeed Standard Bearings have only 0.3-0.4 watts of frictional drag per set, an average drag reduction of 75% compared to stock bottom brackets. This is the result of great design, including hardened-steel races and CeramicSpeed Balls that are 100% smoother and 15% harder than the ceramic competition. They also last longer. The CeramicSpeed Coated Bearings last even longer and feature even lower drag. Life increases by 60% and drag drops by 50% compared to our CeramicSpeed Standard Bearings. All Round Grease is installed in the bearings. It can be replaced for lower-drag TT and Track Grease or higher-durability LongLife Grease, which adds a bit of drag but stays in the bearing when riding through messy conditions.
